AERONAUT is opgericht in 1989 door Jef De Corte & Karin Wauters.
Wij zijn samen sinds 1985 en allebei al meer dan 20 jaar actief en professioneel met kunst, illustratie, grafisch ontwerp, illustratie, keramiek en muziek.
We wonen in het mooie landelijke Wichelen aan de oevers van De Schelde en we hebben een zoon en dochter, beide student in kunstrichtingen.
Omwille van het internationaal karakter van onze bezigheden is de website hoofdzakelijk in het Engels, behalve voor de meer lokale activiteiten en aangelegenheden.
Voor meer inlichtingen, vragen of opmerkingen kan je ons uiteraard in het Nederlands bij ons terecht via het contactformulier.

What's in a name ?
aeronaut |ˈe(ə)rəˌnôt|
noun chiefly historical
a traveler in a hot-air balloon, airship, or other flying craft.
ORIGIN late 18th cent.: from French aéronaute, from Greek aēr ‘air’ + nautēs ‘sailor.’
I started as an airbrush illustrator. The airbrush is a device that permits you to spray small amounts of paint on a paper or object. The "aerograph", as it was originally called, was invented in the last quarter of the 19th century and used to retouch photographs.
With my paintings I want to take the viewer on a voyage, and for myself, creating an artwork is also always some kind of journey. This journey of creation for me is the most important drive to create artwork, be it a painting, image or piece of music.
People sometimes tell me "I would never have the patience to create something like that". For me however, it is not really a question of patience, but of fully enjoying the process of creation itself and the satisfaction of overcoming the difficulties and challenges that every new piece of work offers you.
