Ceramics
Karin Wauters is a professional ceramist with over 20 years of experience.
She studied at the Stedelijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten in Aalst, but she really learned the tools of the trade as an apprentice in the studio of Mirko Orlandini in Brussels.
For her recent work she got inspired by the braille alphabet for blind people.
She creates vessels and in these vessels are small holes. These holes represent letters in braille so that every vessel represents a word, or more vessels together can form a sentence.
The holes are then transpierced by sticks in clay, glass or metal. These sticks also connect the different vessels together.
She has her own pottery studio at our home.
She sells her pottery at exhibitions but in the future it will also be possible to by artwork from this website.
She also gives individual training courses as well as for beginners as for more experienced pupils.
